Home for the Holidays: Why I’m Thankful for Every Roof Over Every Head This Year

Thanksgiving has a way of bringing everything back to what matters most: home.

This year, as Erica Lawton—your Farmgal Realtor—I’m especially thankful for every single roof I’ve helped put over a family’s head in 2025. From the young couple who closed on their first 10-acre parcel just in time to see the corn turn gold, to the empty-nesters who traded the big farmhouse for a cozy cottage with room for grandkids to run… every story reminds me why I do this.

I’m thankful for:

• The smell of fresh paint on move-in day
• The sound of boots on porches I helped someone finally call their own
• Late-night texts that say “We got it!” after a long search
• Dirt under my fingernails from walking land with buyers who dream as big as our Midwest skies
